The Senior Men’s National Team (Sihlangu) Striker, Sandile Gamedze has highlighted that spirit is very high in camp and as players they are preparing themselves as much as they can to be ready to face the Zambians. He made his remarks during the media day at the Mavuso Sports Centre on Tuesday, 15th October 2019.”We are going to redeem ourselves in Zambia. We have to stick on our game plan”, Gamedze said. He further stated that the appropriate game plan for them is to attack so that they can score more goals. “We have to attack so that we can score more goals “, he said. Sihlangu has been too shy in front of goal in recent matches considering the numerous chances that the national team created.

The Striker’s words were echoed by Sihlangu defender Phumlani Dlamini who showed confidence that they are going to win the upcoming match against Zambia. He highlighted that the set- up is good and the spirit iin camp is high. “Despite that we don’t have good results, the set-up is good and spirit is very high in camp. Players are promising to fight and try to win the match”, Dlamini said. Sihlangu must find the back of the net in Zambia in order to have a chance of qualifying for the Total CHAN Finals to be held in Cameroon ealy next year. 

After a poor start in the on-going COSAFA U17 Boys Championship where-by Eswatini lost to Zambia by 6-0, Eswatini won the second match against Malawi who are the hosts by 2-1. This result has placed the Gcina Dlamini led side to the second spot in  Group A. Zambia is currently leading the group with a 100% record after recording their second win in the competition after defeating the Republic of South Africa by 7-0.

Eswatini’s goals were scored by Khayalethu Zitha and Colani Dvuba. Mfanukhona Magagula was the Man of the Match. The final group A matches will be played on Wednesday, 16th October 2019 at 1400hrs. Eswatini will play against the Republic of South Africa at the Kamuzu Stadium whilst log- leaders Zambia will play against third placed Malawi at the Mpiri Stadium. Any win for Eswatini will guarantee them a slot in the semi-finals without relying on the out-come of the other match.

The U17 Men’s National Team Head Coach, Gcina Dlamini has highlighted that it’s not easy to play with countries you didn’t face before, but with the international friendly matches they have played against Botswana and Mozambique, he believes that it will bring a positive impact in this upcoming championship. “If you are playing for this tournament, you are always headed for the unknown. We are going to try our best to leave a mark”, Dlamini said.

Dlamini also stated that they had enough time to prepare, which gave them positive impact in terms of the technical and physical tactics. He further acknowledged Eswatini Football Association for the support that they are giving them. “We are ready to play in this championship. I thank the EFA for the support that they are giving us”, he added.

The U17 Men’s National Team Captain, Siphephelo Philiso has highlighted that the spirit is very high in the camp and players are available to fight for the nation. “Players are available and ready to fight for the nation in this championship”, Philiso said. He made his remarks during training session at the Technical Centre, in preparation for the upcoming 2019 COSAFA U17 Boys Championship to be played in Blantyre, in Malawi starting from 11th -20th October 2019.

Philiso also acknowledged their coaches as they have prepared very well and promised the nation that they will come back home with something.” We prepared very well and players have no injuries. We promise EmaSwati that we will come back home with the cup”, he said.

The Captain’s words were echoed by Colani Dvuba who showed confidence which is a positive signal that they are ready for the upcoming championship in Blantyre, Malawi. He highlighted that players are more committed and ready for the challenge. “We have support from our coaches. Players are more committed and ready for the challenge”, Dvuba said. Over and above, he asked for support from the nation. “I urge EmaSwati to put us in their prayers as we want to come back home with the cup”, he added.

On Saturday, 5th October 2019 the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) in collaboration with Build it hosted the 2019 Build it U13 Siteki Championship at Siteki Sport Ground.  Eight (8) teams were competing for the championship. These teams were Ntengenyane, Silent Heroes, Imphumalanga, Barcelona, Matsetsa Arsenal, Lukhula Black Stars, Sangcotfo and Golden.  Ntengenyane was crowned champions after defeating Sangcotfo by 2-0.  To reach finals, Ntengenyane defeated Black Stars by 2-0 whilst Sangcotfo were the finalists after winning against Barcelona by 2-0.

For their championship, the youngsters were awarded a trophy, a new Build-it branded soccer kit; Build it branded bags, water bottles and individual trophies whilst Sangcotfo got individual trophies, water bottles and soccer bags.  The best player was Banele Matse from Ntengenyane who won himself a trophy. When interviewed after the event Matse was very much happy to be crowned the best player. “I am very much excited to be the best player of this tournament. I played very well and I was able to score 5 goals”, Matse said. He further stated that training sessions help them a lot and thanked support they got from their parents and coaches. “My best player is Sifiso Matse from the Royal Leopard and I wish to play for Royal Leopard one day”, he added.

Over and above, the EFA’S CEO Mr. Frederick Mngomezulu acknowledged Build it, parents and coaches for the support that they give to these youngsters. “On behalf of the football association, we kindly thank Build it for supporting football development in the country. We saw talents to these youngsters”, Mngomezulu said. His words were echoed by the Managing Director Piggs Peak, Ebuhleni and Siteki Build it stores, Mr. Khanya Ndlovu who stated that the youngsters played very well and it shows that football is really developing in the country. “Indeed football is developing in the country. We hope that the youth coaches of the EFA were able to identify the football talents to the players”, Ndlovu said.

 

 

On Saturday, 28th September 2019 the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) in collaboration with Build it hosted the 2019 U-13 Mbabane Build it Championship at Prince of Wales. Sixteen (16) teams were competing for the championship.  The teams were Fast Reaction, Elangeni Vultures, Golden Kings, Tinyosi, Real Master, Gunners, Real Tec, Mantsholo United, Herrican, Umbelebele, Dark City, SuperSport, Mbabane Swallows, Barcelona, Ntsetse Flyers and Total XI. Fast Reaction was crowned champions after defeating Vultures by 3-2. To reach finals, Fast Reaction defeated Gunners by 2-0 whilst Vultures were the finalists after winning against Dark City by 1-0.

For their championship, the youngsters were awarded a trophy, a new Build-it branded soccer kit; Build it branded bags, water bottles and individual trophies whilst Vultures got individual trophies, water bottles and soccer bags.  The best player was Lindelani Masuku of Fast Reaction who won himself a trophy. When interviewed after the event Masuku thanked Build it for giving them such opportunity. “Today I scored five goals. I wish to play for Mbabane Swallows one day”, Masuku said. He further stated that playing for this tournament helps them to get experience in football.

Over and above, the EFA’S Vice President Dr. Comfort Shongwe expressed his gratitude to Build it for supporting this football development. “On behalf of EFA, we thank Build it for supporting us with this football development. I hope that FIFA is grateful of what is happening in Eswatini Football development”, Shongwe said.

“You need to make a mark. In life, every one of us has to do something that we can always remember you for”, said the EFA’S President Mr. Adam Mthethwa. He made his remarks during the closing ceremony of the FIFA MA Goalkeeping course that was held on Friday, 27th September 2019 at the Technical Centre. He thanked the FIFA Instructor for the work he has done to football goalkeeping instructors. “We believe that they have learnt something and whatever we achieve as a country, we will always be grateful”, Mthethwa said.

Furthermore, he also welcomed the instructors to football development in the country.” As coaches you want to achieve something at some point and as the football association we are facilitating your own development to be at a higher level”, he said. He also highlighted that the coaches are committed in developing football in the country and encouraged them to continue working for football.

When addressing the audience; On behalf of FIFA, the FIFA Instructor, Mr. Alejandro Heredia thanked EFA for the support they have given them and for being part of this course. “It is my pleasure to be here and it has been a great experience”, Heredia said. He further stated that key to success is to keep on learning and implement what you have learnt. “Don’t give up, keep on going and use this opportunity for you to be better goalkeeping coaches”, he added.

The FIFA MA Refereeing course was officially opened by the Eswatini Football Association’s (EFA’S) President Mr. Adam Mthethwa on Monday, 23rd September 2019 at the Technical Centre in Lobamba. He expressed his gratitude to FIFA for supporting them with such courses and welcomed the FIFA Instructor.  “As football association, we are very much honoured and privileged to FIFA for assisting us with this course”, Mthethwa said.

When addressing the audience Mthethwa highlighted that education for the people involved with the football development is very important. So, as football association they want to have quality instructors whom they believe are going to produce quality goalkeepers. He further promised coaches that football association will always fulfil their wishes. “What you aspire for, the football association will always be there to facilitate your wishes”, he said.

Moreover, the Instructor, Mr. Alejandro Heredia acknowledged FIFA for giving him such opportunity to facilitate this course. “It’s a great pleasure for me to be here. I hope by the end of this week, you will have learnt a lot”, Heredia said. He also highlighted that Eswatini is one of the African Countries who is more active in education more especially in goalkeeping and it’s his fourth year conducting this course in Eswatini.

This course will end on Friday 27th September 2019.

On Saturday, 21st September 2019 the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) in collaboration with Build it hosted the 2019 U-13 Ebuhleni Build it Championship at Fontotje Sports Ground. Eight (8) teams were competing for the championship. These teams were Ndlalambi Stars, JB Arsenal, Sihhoye Academy, Fontotje United, Sakhiwo Academy, Arsenal, Njakeni United and Makhosonkhe Stars.  JB Arsenal was crowned champions after defeating Njakeni by 6-5 after penalties.  This was after the two sides played to a 1-all draw. To reach finals, JB Arsenal defeated Arsenal by 3-2 whilst Njakeni were the finalists after winning against Sihhoye Academy by 3-1.

For their championship, the youngsters were awarded a trophy, a new Build-it branded soccer kit; Build it branded bags, water bottles and individual trophies whilst Njakeni got individual trophies, water bottles and soccer bags.  The best player was Bongwa Simelane who won himself a trophy. When interviewed after the event Simelane expressed his delight of being crowned the best player. “I am very much excited to be the best player of this tournament. I thank Build it for giving us this opportunity to showcase our talents as youngsters”, Simelane said. He further stated that he played very well and this tournament helped them to gain more experience on playing football. Over and above he thanked support that he got from his parents. “I thank my parents for their support. I also thank my coaches for the work that they have done during training”, he added.

The Eswatini Football Association’s (EFA’S) Vice President Dr. Comfort Shongwe has acknowledged FIFA for the development and the perfectly implemented FIFA MA Refereeing Instructors Course. He made his remarks during closing ceremony of the FIFA MA Refereeing Instructors Course at Thokoza Church Centre in Mbabane on Friday, 20th September 2019. “As Football Association, we are very much honoured and privileged to FIFA for their support in implementing this course. Indeed, FIFA is a true partner in developing football in the country in all aspects”, Shongwe said.

Moreover, he also highlighted that the association has a new strategic plan and they are looking at the key performance indicators.” As instructors let us see what you are producing. Train referees and recruit young talented stars, who can see our vision of seeing the referees officiating in international matches at a highest level”, he said. He further congratulated participants for working hard and wished them all the best. “We hope that now we have quality referee instructors. We wish that one day, we will see one of our referees officiating in one of the major tournaments in the world”, he added.

When addressing the audience; the FIFA Instructor, Mr. Carlos Henriques thanked EFA for the support they have given them and highlighted that he worked very hard with the participants. He further urged these participants to work hard and implement the information. “I am very much happy with the performance of the participants. It was my pleasure working with you and I wish you all the best”, Henriques said.
