“We will fight like never before in the match against Djibouti. We have potential and we have quality players”, Sihlangu Head Coach, Kostadin Papic said during a farewell function for the senior men’s national team to Djibouti on Sunday, 1st August 2019 at the Technical Centre. He also stated that this is the first step and the most important step for them to bring the country to the group stage of the World Cup.
Papic also promised the nation that players are going to fight and win this match. He also highlighted that players are mentally and physically ready for the match “Players are mentally and physically ready for this match. We are going to fight and win against Djibouti”, he added. This showed that the training was very productive and the coach has faith in his players.
The Sihlangu SeMnikati’s Captain, Banele Dlamini has highlighted that the spirit is high in camp as the players are confident ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match against Djibouti at the Stade Gouled on Wednesday, 4th September 2019. Kick-off for this international match is 1800 hrs (Djibouti time) which is 1700 hrs (Eswatini time). “On paper they may be underdogs in this match, but football is dynamic of which anything is possible but we want to win this match”, Dlamini said.
The Sihlangu skipper’s words were echoed by Machawe Dlamini who stated that they are ready for the match in Djibouti. He highlighted that they will go to Djibouti to fight for a win. “We may have defeated them before but football is evolving. We will go to Djibouti to fight for a win”, he said. Over and above, he stated that the pressure will be there as fans expect them to win this match easier considering the previous score when they played against them and won 6-0 away from home.
“We are expecting to win in Djibouti but football is improving and we have to be careful”, Sihlangu Head Coach, Kostadin Papic said during an interview before yesterday’s national team’s training session at the Somhlolo National Stadium. He also highlighted that the upcoming match is very much important to them as they want to be in the group stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. “The players need to work hard in order to win the match”, he said.
Papic also stated that its advantage out to start playing away and they will try to finish the job in Djibouti. When asked about the availability of the international players, the Serbian born Coach stated that there is a possibility of having one of them as they are still with their football clubs and unfortunately they will be having club commitments on the day that the national team will be leaving the country, which makes their travelling logistics to be a challenge. The National team is leaving on Sunday, 31st August 2019 and they are expected to be back on Saturday, 7th September 2019 for the home match. “The travelling logistics are a disadvantage but there is nothing we can do”, he concluded.
On Saturday, 24th August 2019 the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) in collaboration with Build it hosted the 2019 U-13 Piggs’Peak Build it Championship at the Killarney Stadium. Eight (8) teams were competing for the championship. These teams were Ntfonjeni Stars FC, Hotspurs FC, Peak City FC, Nkomanzi United FC, Lomshiyo Express FC, Mhlatane United FC, Mangwaneni United FC and Black Swallows FC. Nkomanzi FC was crowned champions after defeating Mangwaneni by 1-0. To reach finals, Nkomanzi defeated Lomshiyo by 4-3 after penalties whilst Mangwaneni were the finalists after winning against Ntfonjeni by 2-1.
For their achievement, the youngsters were awarded a trophy, a new Build-it branded soccer kit; Build it branded bags, water bottles and individual trophies whilst Mangwaneni got individual trophies, water bottles and soccer bags. The best player was Mahle Vilakati who won himself a trophy. When interviewed after the event Vilakati expressed his delight of being crowned the best player. “I am very much excited for being chosen as the best player of this tournament. I thank my coaches who helped us during the training “, Vilakati said. He also highlighted that they played very well and they were ready to fight. “Ï thank Build it and the EFA for providing us with this platform where we display our football skills”, he added.
According to Mahle’s mother; Winile Nxumalo when interviewed during this event she was very much happy to watch him playing football with such spirit. “We want to see him participating at the highest level”, she said. She further highlighted that her child was taking part for the second time for this tournament and besides playing soccer, wherever he participates he is very active and that’s the reason they came to support him. Over and above, she also appreciatethe initiative done by Build it and EFA for this football development programme.
The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) acknowledges Young Buffaloes FC for their participation to the next round of the Total CAF Confederation Cup after eliminating the Zambian side Buildcon FC. It must be noted that their achievement portrays a positive image to the Eswatini football and the country at large. “The EFA and the football family at large; wishes them the very best of luck as they proceed to the next round of the competition”, read the EFA statement. By advancing to the next round; we will benefit as a country as the players will get more international exposure which will boost their performance when playing for the national team.
On another note; the EFA also acknowledges Green Mamba FC for their competitiveness in the Total CAF Champions League matches against Zesco United FC. Even though they didn’t make it to the next round of the competition; the country will benefit from their participation as the players got valuable international experience which will enhance their performance in the national team.
The FIFA MA Instructors Coaching course was officially opened by the Eswatini Football Association’s (EFA’S) President Mr. Adam Mthethwa on Monday, 19th August 2019 at the Technical Centre in Lobamba. Other dignitaries present during this event were the FIFA Instructor; Mr. Enrich Rustermular from Germany, EFA’s Executive Committee Member Mr. Nicodimus Mashwama and EFA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Frederick Mngomezulu to mention but just a few. There are twenty- six (26) participants for this course.
When addressing the audience the EFA’S President welcomed the instructor and wished him a good stay in the country. He also acknowledged the commitment of the coaches.” You being here proves that you are fully committed in helping the football association in football development in the country”, the President of EFA Mr. Adam Mthethwa said.
Moreover, the Instructor Mr. Enrich Rustermular had some few words to share with the audience. He highlighted that he was very much honoured for the invite and to be the facilitator of this course. “I am very much honoured and privileged to be here. I am very proud to be part of this course”, Rustermular said. He also highlighted that a coach is a key for football development, success and good performance which is why coaches need to work hard to fulfil that. This course will end on Friday, 23rd August 2019.
On Saturday, 17th August 2019 the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) in collaboration with Build it hosted the 2019 U-13 Manzini Build it Championship at the Manzini ClubEight (8) teams were competing for the championship. These teams were Ishibobo Academy, Moneni Pirates FC , Zakhele, FV Sporting, Ngwazini, School of Excellence, Bad Boys and Road blocks. Ishibobo Academy was crowned champions after defeating School of Excellence by 3-2 after penalties. This was after the two sides played to a 1-all draw. To reach finals, Ishibobo defeated Road blocks by 5-0 whilst School of Excellence were the finalists after winning against Moneni Pirates by 15-0.

He further stated that he was ready for this tournament and also thanked the support that he got from his parents and the opportunity that Build it is giving them as youngsters to showcase their football artistry.

The statement also highlighted that the beautiful game of football was played in a good spirit and the support was very good which perfectly endorses the tournaments slogan “Yam’ Nawe, Sphakeme Futsi”. “The high attendance of football fans and high quality of football artistry by all the teams who participated in this tournament indeed made charity and football to be the ultimate winner”; the statement read.
Over and above, the EFA congratulated the Champions; Mbabane Highlanders FC, for being the champions of this tournament. “None of these could have been a success without the sponsors EPTC and its Management Committee who presented a well – coordinated programme and worked very hard from its launch to the very end of this tournament. The football family remains greatly indebted to Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications Corporations (EPTC)”; the statement concluded.

Other dignitaries present during this event were the FIFA Instructors; Mr. Ali Mohamed Ahmed from Somali Republic and Mr. Guiseppe Galvano from Italy and EFA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Frederick Mngomezulu to mention but just a few. There are thirty (30) participants/ referees for this course.
When addressing the audience the EFA’S President welcomed the instructors and wished them a good stay in the country. He also acknowledged the commitment of the referees as they execute their duties. He highlighted that as EFA; the development of referees is one of the pillars the football association and they want to see the referees officiating at the highest level. “We want to prepare and to see our referees officiating at the highest level”, Mthethwa said. He further wished instructors and referees a successful course. “I hope by the end of this week you will have learnt a lot”, Mthethwa added.
Over and above, the instructor Mr. Ali Mohamed Ahmed expressed FIFA’s commitment in the development of referees in the country. “On behalf of FIFA I am very much honoured to be here and FIFA is very happy to follow the referees of Eswatini”, Mohamed said. He highlighted that the participants look committed in benefiting from this course. He also congratulated the referees for passing the physical fitness test and wished them a successful course.” I hope by the end of this week, you will feel a bit difference and you will have benefited on the theoretical and practical aspects of refereeing”, he added.
This course will end on Friday 9th August 2019.
The Eswatini Football Association’s (EFA’S) President Mr. Adam Mthethwa has shared his point of view about the 180 minutes left in as far as the qualification of Sihlangu SeMnikati to the 2020 Total CHAN Finals to be held in Cameroon early next year. If you have no dreams, you have no future. We are about to make history by qualifying in one of the major tournaments in Africa. We are working towards that target”, Mthethwa said.
Moreover, he stated that to eliminate Malawi and Angola from CHAN qualifiers comes with its own history and we are just one opposition away from qualifying for the 2020 Total CHAN Finals, which will be a great achievement. The president also urged every stakeholder to support the national team in making this dream a reality.
